Dental Fear

So I’m scared. Very scared. Some people have phobias of spiders, others are afraid of heights or tight space (which I am too), but my main phobia is the dentist. Since I was a child I have been incredibly uptight about keeping my teeth in good shape. I floss and brush multiple times a day and have yet to have a cavity. Well, I am in the process of FINALLY getting invisalign. It took me a long time to get up the courage to do even that. If I needed actual braces, well forget about it. I’d be snaggletooth forever. Anyhow, my orthodontist (whom I love) Dr. Tanya Vaysman, suggested I see my dentist about grinding. Apparently while I sleep I grind my teeth. Sadly, I cannot count on my husband to bring this problem to my attention because he sleeps like a log. I guess I have been grinding for years because now I need to fill the holes/damage caused by this. And there is quite a good chance there are cavities in those holes. I’m really not sure how I’m going to handle this experience. Quite honestly, I think the dentist is going to have to put me under anesthesia if he needs to put needles or drill anywhere near my mouth. I did receive some good advice from Crystal. I need to try to imagine I’m someplace else. So Bora Bora here I come again! Wish me luck!
